Christian Lindholm

Director & Partner, Fjord

Digital innovations and design consultancy Fjord has appointed Christian Lindholm, a renowned innovator in the mobile and mobile internet space, as a director and partner in the business.

Christian is known as the Father of the Nokia Series 60 User Interface and is the inventor of the Nokia Navi-Key, one of the most deployed mobile user interfaces with over 600 million units sold. He will bring his extensive experience and know-how to help grow Fjord’s consultancy business and steer the company's incubation activities.

Christian joins Fjord from Yahoo!, where he served as Vice President of Global Mobile Products, overseeing the development of Yahoo!’s mobile services. At Yahoo!, Christian helped to take Yahoo! Go from first to second generation, making major concept and experience overhauls and evolving it to the now well-known Carousel design. He also drove the creation of the FIFA World Cup services, most notably the alert and mobile website.

Prior to joining Yahoo!, Christian spent 10 years at Nokia, where he and his team worked in partnership with Fjord to create the Nokia Lifeblog, a multimedia diary automatically created on the user’s mobile phone and archived on their PC. Lifeblog allows users to share desired moments on a blog from either their mobile or PC and now comes as standard on all Nokia N- Series devices. Lifeblog has since been hailed as one of the first true convergence products in the mobile space.

Christian co-authored “Mobile Usability - How Nokia changed the face of the mobile phone,” a vivid insight into the processes and working methods that enabled Nokia to revolutionise usability, and holds several patents in user experience and mobile software. He also appears regularly on conference platforms around the world sharing his thoughts on strategic developments affecting the mobile and mobile internet industries.

“In his former roles at Yahoo! and Nokia, Christian was a long-term customer of Fjord. He has an incredible track record and a visionary perspective that will enable us to reach new levels of digital innovation and design. He will strengthen our offer to businesses looking for a strategic understanding of digital media and the design of world class solutions and will be a key driver behind our own ventures,” says Mike Beeston, managing director and founder of Fjord.

hristian adds: “Fjord has a unique pool of world leading talent in experience innovation and some of the biggest minds solving design and user experience problems in the mobile and convergence spaces. The company's strategic approach to user experience design and its vision about its future make it a perfect fit for me.”
